Meet the Committee / Iain St. Leger

Helper

When did you become a committee member?
I became a committee member in December 2008.

What other volunteering work have you done?
I have been involved with volunteer work since I was 15, when I assisted with fund raising for overseas aid and coffee mornings, and at school fundrasiers. During my year out from university, I help out in a local day centre, where I got involved with serving food, taking clients shopping, and supporting and organising them on day trips. However as people who know me, it was a big test on my naviagation skills!! I have also assisted with working in day hospital with wheelchair services and helped out with a triathalon in Northampton where they let me loose on directing traffic! :)

When/Where did you hear about Reading Pride?
I heard about Reading Pride in 2008 when I move here from Bedford and decided it would be good way to help get involved with the local community and joined up last year.

What have you done for Reading Pride in the past?
I have offered moral support and hugs to people. :)

What do you do for Reading Pride now?
I work as support for people on the commitee and do odd jobs.

How has volunteering for Reading Pride benefited your personal/professional development?
It offered me the chance to give something back and feel part of Reading.

Would you recommend volunteering for Reading Pride?
I would recommend it to anyone, as its worth supporting and getting involved with.

What is your best Reading Pride moment?
Hmmm, now that would be telling, but as long as you can be yourself and enjoy it than thats the best thing :)
