Meet the Committee / Lynn Tracy Durrant

Copywriter & Membership

When did you become a committee member?
At the AGM meeting in December 2009

What other volunteering work have you done?
None — This is my first time volunteering

When/Where did you hear about Reading Pride?
I went to school with Lorna. I came back from Florida in July 2009 after being out there since September 2003 just to enquire about dates, time, cost etc of pride. But I decided to actually help out and set up Pride. But as I never been to Reading Pride I decided to attented the event. However, in the future I will help set up the event and help out on the actual day.

What have you done for Reading Pride in the past?
Volunteer to help set up Pride

What do you do for Reading Pride now?
I do the copywriting, checking text for grammer, spelling. Also I write small paragraphs on specific articles.

How has volunteering for Reading Pride benefited your personal/professional development?
It has been a huge eye opener to how big the LGBT community is now in the UK, as before I left the UK in 2003 I wasn't aware of this. Also the dedication and committment of the whole of Reading Pride Committee.

Would you recommend volunteering for Reading Pride?
Absolutley. This great event can only exist with dedication of all the volunteers with different talents and ideas.

What is your best Reading Pride moment?
Has to be actually attending my first Pride event and meeting everyone involved.
