Reading Pride is delighted to announce that outgoing Mayor of Reading Councillor Sarah Hacker has agreed to become the charity’s new patron.

Councillor Hacker handed over the Mayoral chains to Mohammed Ayub last week following a year in which she has helped many organisations, and raised over £10,000 for her chosen charities. Of her new role she said ‘I believe Reading Pride is one of the best in the country, still free to attend, inclusive, family friendly and, more importantly, growing. I look forward to helping further develop this landmark event on the local cultural scene’.

Chair of Reading Pride Andrew Adams said ‘Councillor Hacker has shown throughout her year as Mayor her commitment to diversity, culture and the LGBT+ community here in Reading and as an organisation bringing together all those strands we have been honoured that she agreed to become our Patron. We look forward to her support and input to our organisation over the years to come.’
