Reading Pride fundraises all year to run the annual Reading Pride festival with 100% of funds raised by hardworking volunteers who campaign tirelessly for the charity.
This year was an exceptionally hard year for many so when Paul Britt one of the trustee's of Reading Pride received a letter from the Prime Minister, The Rt. Hon Theresa May to pass on to the volunteers, committee members and trustees of Reading Pride, it put a massive smile on everyone's faces.
The main body of the letter reads:
Pride festivals are important for raising the profile of LGBT equality, and for providing an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on the advances that have already been made in this area. I would therefore like to thank you, and your fellow trustees and volunteers, for all your hard work in organising Reading Pride.
As the MP for nearby Maidenhead, I am delighted to see Reading Pride growing each year and uniting so many local organisations to promote equality and diversity within Reading and the Thames Valley.
I am also proud that Britain is one of the most LGBT-friendly places in the world, and I will continue to stand for a future where everyone can enjoy the freedom to live and love openly."
Theresa May [signed]
Everyone at Reading Pride returns a big thank you to all volunteers and those who donated and sponsored Pride and to Theresa May for her kind words and appreciate the thanks and acknowledgement from Number 10 especially with the words "I [Theresa May] will continue to stand for a future where everyone can enjoy the freedom to live and love openly."
